Jim Reese Memory Tree Program
Now you may honor the memory of a special person, celebrate the birth of a child, or commemorate a special occasion with the gift of a tree. With a growing and living tribute that betters our natural surroundings, trees are the perfect way to show someone that you care.
The Memory Tree Package includes:
Your own personal message, engraved on a plaque, to be placed at the tree.
Your newly planted 6-8 foot tall tree will be mulched and watered after planting, and maintenance will be provided during the tree’s lifetime.
If your tree dies within the first year, it will be replaced at no additional cost.
Memory Trees are planted twice a year in the spring and fall by the Muncie Parks Department, and volunteers are welcome to help. You may choose from two options:
Option A) 1.5″ inch diameter trunk is $250.00
Option B) 2″ inch diameter trunk is $500.00
You can choose an Indiana native tree and its planting location in one of the City of Muncie’s public parks with the help of the Urban Forester. Please read the Muncie Urban Forestry Office’s Guide to Planning, Planting, and Pruning Trees in the City to learn about Indiana Native Trees, suggested trees to be planted, and tree care.
Call 765-273-3714 or email info@beautifulmuncie.org if you have any questions or to learn more about purchasing a memory tree.
All funds collected from the Jim Reese Memory Tree Program are split between the Muncie Urban Forestry Committee and Muncie-Delaware Clean & Beautiful to help sustain their programs that support beautification and tree plantings in Muncie and Delaware County.
