Recycling in Muncie
Recycling turns materials that would otherwise become waste into valuable resources. In addition, it generates a host of environmental, financial, and social benefits. Materials like glass, metal, plastics, and paper are collected, separated, and sent to facilities that can process them into new materials or products.
In Muncie, we use a Blue Bag system where you place all recyclable materials into a blue trash bag where it will later get sorted. The Blue Bag system is free for all residents! Blue Bags can be placed in your regular toters or dumpsters that are picked up by Muncie Sanitary District, or you can drop your Blue Bags off at East Central Recycling. Please click here to receive a free Blue Bag coupon card in your mailbox or find out where to redeem Blue Bag coupons.
You may also drop off certain materials at East Central Recycling, located at 701 E. Centennial Ave (see map below). Their hours are Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to 12 noon. You may also drop off household hazard waste at East Central Recycling, including used oil, tires, electronics, batteries, light bulbs, etc. This service is free to all Delaware County residents.
